As school communicators and education leaders were dealing with the challenges of constant changes due to the pandemic, NSPRA pushed forward with significant changes of its own in an effort to become even more relevant to and supportive of its members.
An energized Executive Board set the stage with a laser focus as it created the association’s first strategic plan to jump start NSPRA’s transformation toward greater relevancy. A new executive director assumed leadership of the 85-year-old association and began to build on its solid foundation of financial health.
Given the realities of limited resources and staff, a data-driven process of evaluation and strategic abandonment enabled the association to drive those limited resources toward elevating and delivering the most valuable member services and benefits. In addition, several new initiatives were launched that aligned directly with member feedback.
A most notable moment of the year was the return of the in-person NSPRA National Seminar in New Orleans after being forced to a fully virtual format in 2020 due to the pandemic. The joy and energy among attendees was palpable as they networked and exchanged ideas, paraded through the French Quarter and reunited with colleagues.
Looking ahead, NSPRA will continue to be vibrant, responsive and intensely member driven as the challenges of the ongoing pandemic remain.
