Arianna Vazquez-Hernandez, APR Executive Administrator for Partnerships, Marketing and Communication Region One Education Service Center Edinburg, Texas Nominated by: Texas School Public Relations Association
Across an 18-year career in school communications, Arianna Vazquez-Hernandez, APR, has built systems that inform, connect and empower—positioning communication as a strategic function central to education leadership. As executive administrator for partnerships, marketing and communication at Region One Education Service Center (ESC), she supports 38 districts and 11 charter systems that serve more than 400,000 students across eight counties in South Texas.
Since joining Region One ESC in 2022, Vazquez-Hernandez has transformed the agency’s communications office into a regional resource. She expanded services to help districts strengthen their own communication efforts, launched a new professional development network for school communicators, and developed a menu of low-cost services to increase access for smaller, under-resourced systems. Through her work, high-quality public relations support is now available to some of the state’s most vulnerable school systems.
“Arianna is a builder of teams, partnerships and transformative communication,” said Region One Executive Director Dr. Daniel King. “Her communication and outreach efforts are the heartbeat of all the organizations and communities she serves.”
Vazquez-Hernandez leads internal and external communication efforts for the ESC, including employee engagement, media relations, crisis response, strategic planning and special events. Under her direction, stakeholder engagement increased by 40%, and satisfaction with internal communications rose by 35%. She has also coordinated multi-platform demand generation programs, implemented brand modernization efforts, and launched targeted campaigns that increased media coverage by 50%.
Her communication philosophy is rooted in service. She ensures that all staff understand the “why” behind initiatives and that stakeholders receive accurate, timely and accessible information—especially during times of change or crisis. From building out messaging systems to mentoring colleagues and district partners, her work consistently reflects transparency, equity and impact.
Beyond her agency role, Vazquez-Hernandez is a respected leader at the state and national levels. She has served as President and now Immediate Past President of the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA), leading strategic planning, statewide conferences and membership development. She also holds dual professional credentials—accreditation in public relations (APR) and Certification in Professional Communication (CPC)—and shares her expertise widely through conference presentations and professional development training.
“Arianna exemplifies what it means to lead with both strategy and heart,” said Patti Pawlik-Perales, Executive Director of TSPRA. “Her commitment to mentoring others, advancing the profession, and supporting Texas schools is unmatched.”
Deeply invested in her community, Vazquez-Hernandez supports the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Education Foundation, organizes charitable campaigns and fundraisers, and volunteers her time to support underrepresented students in accessing postsecondary opportunities. Her thought leadership on topics such as funding equity and bilingual education adds an important voice to statewide policy conversations.
Through every role, initiative and relationship, Arianna Vazquez-Hernandez continues to elevate the field of school public relations—demonstrating how effective communication fosters trust, drives progress and improves educational opportunity for all.
