What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership is about living your team's mission and values every day. Our Communication Team's mission is to inform, empower and connect with students, staff, families and community members to promote the dynamic APS story where every student shapes a successful future. We value collaboration, innovation, going above and beyond and always using a caring approach.

What was the most fulfilling professional moment you have experienced?
Partnering with our multilingual families has been incredibly powerful. My family immigrated from South Korea, so I have a firsthand understanding of the value and importance of maintaining effective communication with all of our families. Over the past few months, our team has led some great work in partnering with families to improve language services districtwide.

What are the most challenging and/or rewarding part about working in school PR?
Every day is different and presents new and interesting communication challenges. I love that no two days are alike and that I have the best team working with me to serve our community!

What’s your favorite work app and personal app?
Facebook for work and Instagram for personal.

What book has inspired you professionally?
I'm currently reading Nudge, by Richard Thaler. Framing and messaging are so critical.

How has NSPRA and your state chapter guided you along the way?
The support and collaboration from COSPRA and NSPRA colleagues is key. The COolSPRA team is amazing.

What is a recent communications/media campaign you enjoyed – either one of your own or one you saw nationally?
We have a great "Ask students about their plans!" campaign. It's related to our strategic plan: APS 2020. We have so many ambitious, passionate, compassionate and inspiring students to hear from. We love hearing about their plans and learning about how they're preparing for successful futures every day in APS schools.

What emerging trends in school public relations get you excited?
I am excited to see school PR professionals get aggressive about telling our stories. We can't let outside groups with outside interests shape our narratives.
