NSPRA Welcomes Two New Staff Members

NSPRA  recently welcomed Sarah Loughlin and Susan Downing, APR, as its newest staff members. Loughlin is the association's communications specialist while Downing will serve as NSPRA's communication audit coordinator.

In her new role, Loughlin is responsible for supporting NSPRA's communications strategy. A communications and association professional with a background in content development, member engagement and project management, her role includes maintaining content of the association website, developing articles and story ideas for association publications, coordination of NSPRA's social media presence and more. Previously, Loughlin served as the marketing and membership engagement manager at the American Urological Association where she oversaw the recruitment, retention and engagement of current and prospective members. She also spent nearly a decade at Comcast where she served in a variety of communications-focused roles.

As the association's communication audit coordinator, Downing  is responsible for coordinating logistics for all aspects of NSPRA Communication Audits, including onboarding clients, scheduling focus groups, drafting review reports and more. Prior to joining NSPRA, Downing served as communications director for the Ladue School District in St. Louis, Mo., for 11 years after serving on the district's Board of Education for five years. Downing's communications career began in the private sector working in the financial industry before transitioning to education in 2009. Every position she's held has required the successful development and implementation of communication, marketing and organizational strategic plans based solidly on research. She earned Accreditation in Public Relations in 2018. She is also an accomplished writer, and since her retirement from the Ladue School District in 2020, she has assisted various organizations in strategic planning, project planning and writing. Downing continues to be active in the management and leadership of her own state chapter of NSPRA, the Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA).
