2020 Seminar Scholarship Recipients Announced

Patricia Valderrama, communications technician, Boulder (Colo.) Valley School District, and Nicole Chaidez, communication specialist, Davis (Calif.) Joint Unified School District, have been named the 2020 NSPRA Foundation Seminar Scholarship recipients (pictured below from left). These NSPRA scholarships are provided through the NSPRA Foundation for the Advancement of Education.

Keegan Kociss (pictured below), communications specialist, Community Consolidated School District 146, Tinley Park, Ill. has been named the recipient of the 2020 Armistead New Professional Scholarship. This scholarship provides a registration to both the National Seminar and the New Professionals Pre-Seminar Workshop. It is administered by the NSPRA Foundation for the Advancement of Education and is made possible by the personal sponsorship of NSPRA Past President Lew Armistead, APR, and his wife Joan.

Alex Mayster (pictured below), communications director, Evergreen (Ill.) Park School District 124, has been named the 2020 Dawn K. McDowell Memorial Scholarship recipient. The scholarship is administered by the NSPRA Foundation for the Advancement of Education and is made possible thanks to generous contributions from Dawn McDowell’s family and our Minnesota chapter.

Tracey Lewis (pictured below), director of communications/teacher recruitment & retention, Surry County Schools, Dobson, N.C., has been named the 2020 Don Bagin Memorial Scholarship recipient. The scholarship is administered by the NSPRA Foundation for the Advancement of Education and was made possible by the generous contributions of his family and by NSPRA members in his memory.

Liz Polay-Wettengel (pictured below), chief of public relations, Salmen (Mass.) Public Schools, has been named the 2020 Pat Jackson Seminar Scholarship recipient. The scholarship is administered by the NSPRA Foundation for the Advancement of Education and was made possible by the generous donations of NSPRA members in his memory.

Vickie Holbrook (pictured below), public information officer, Emmett (Idaho) School District, has been named the recipient of the 2020 Executive Board’s Seminar Scholarship. This scholarship is administered by the NSPRA Foundation for the Advancement of Education and was made possible by the personal donation of NSPRA Executive Director Rich Bagin, APR.

Sandra Williams (pictured below), chief communications officer, Spartanburg County School District One, Campobello, S.C., has been named the recipient of the 2020 Joe Krumm Leadership Memorial Seminar Scholarship. This scholarship is administered by the NSPRA Foundation for the Advancement of Education and was made possible by the generous donations of NSPRA members in memory of NSPRA Past President Joe Krumm, APR.

Thomas Gould, director of public relations, Howell (Mich.) Public Schools, and Andrew Robinson, communications coordinator, Gettysburg (Pa.) Area School District, have been named the 2020 #K12PRChat Seminar Scholarship recipients (pictured below from left). These NSPRA scholarships are aadministered by the Foundation and was made possible by the donations of NSPRA members who purchased Road2NSPRA T-Shirts and through sponsorships and donations toward the #K12PRFit 5K.

Jamie Brace (pictured below), communications director and media relations, Claremore (Okla.) Public School District, is the 2020 Barry Gaskins Mentor Legacy Scholarship recipient. She was designated to receive the scholarship by last year’s recipient of the Barry Gaskins Mentor Legacy Award, Susan Hardy Brooks, APR.
