If you'd like to get more involved in the Association, NSPRA has many opportunities for you to consider!

Whether it's serving on NSPRA committees or the Executive Board, leading chapters, or sending tips and ideas for publications, we appreciate member involvement in the Association.

NSPRA This Week

We're always looking for member's great tips, good stuff, and news highlights to share in our weekly e-newsletter, NSPRA This Week. Send ideas, tips, or news recommendations to nspra [at] nspra [dot] org.

Tip Sheets are used weekly, so there's no deadline for submission. Here are several examples to show the variety of topics/formats possible:

NSPRA Seeking Principals' Viewpoints

We're looking for elementary and middle school principals, in particular, to share viewpoints and best practices in the PRincipal Communicator feature "Principal's Point of View." To view this year's questions and provide a response click here. Responses should be about 150-200 words, and NSPRA will need your photo along with your response!


Spotlight Your Outstanding Frontline Communicators

NSPRA is seeking frontline support staffers from elementary and middle schools across North America whose communication efforts are making a difference for their schools. We're looking for these outstanding Frontline Communicators to feature in the PRincipal Communicator newsletter. Outstanding Frontline Communicators receive certificates and are highlighted in NSPRA's monthly newsletter.

To nominate a frontline staffer from your school or district for this feature, please consider the following criteria, then send the details,including verification/support of the nomination from the immediate supervisor of the staffer to Carol Mowen at cmowen [at] nspra [dot] org or
complete this online form.

Consideration Criteria:

  • Support staffers who use effective communication strategies/tactics in their schools.
  • The communication strategies/tactics positively affect student achievement and/or parental involvement.
  • The communication strategies/tactics are "Best Practice" models for others in similar roles.

Send Nomination Via Email:

  • Name, title, and contact information of the frontline person nominated and the nominator.
  • Brief
    paragraph or bulleted list of the effective communication strategies and tactics used by the frontline staffer. These could include verbal and non-verbal examples, such as daily smiles to welcome students to the school bus or food service line.
  • Brief paragraph or bulleted list of examples of at least one way students' achievement or parental involvement/engagement has been affected by the communication
    skills and efforts of the staffer.
  • Digital photo of the staffer in action or a head-shot of the staffer suitable for publication.

Send Verification:

  • Verification Letter from the immediate supervisor indicating approval and support of the nomination, provided on the system's official letterhead.
  • FAX to 301-519-0494 or send the letter as an email attachment.

Suggestions for articles or other ideas for consideration can be sent to nspra [at] nspra [dot] org.


Network 

If you'd be willing to share your viewpoint and best practices in the "Member Perspectives" feature, please email Carol Mowen at cmowen [at] nspra [dot] org. We'll send you one of this year's questions for response. The answer should be about 150-200 words. Please send your photo for use in the newsletter, too!

We'll also consider submissions of book reviews or opinion columns for Network's "back page." The "As I See It" and "Enriching the Profession" columns are usually about 600 words long.

If you have suggestions for articles or have something you want to submit for consideration, email Carol Mowen at cmowen [at] nspra [dot] org. Lead stories run about 1000 words, and the "Professionally Speaking/Building Skills" columns are much shorter (about 200 words).

And don't forget to send news of promotions, job changes, major awards, or other noteworthy achievements to us for our "Member Watch" column. Email these to nspra [at] nspra [dot] org.


NSPRA Leaders

NSPRA members can also get involved as NSPRA leaders by serving on the Association's committees or running for the Executive Board.
