About Karen

Karen joined NSPRA as associate director in 1998. She has 29 years of experience in public relations, working in the private sector as well as public education. She has been an active member of NSPRA since 1985, and has served as a chapter president (in Arizona), NSPRA committee chair, and NSPRA Southwest Region Vice President prior to joining the staff.

Karen manages NSPRA's communication audit service, public engagement activities, and the NSPRA Seminar program, and oversees the accreditation program and chapter/member relations in addition to supporting the Executive Director in association governance and development efforts. She also serves as a senior counsel to members and coordinates NSPRA's crisis response assistance efforts.

Her experience as a school communications director and her long involvement with NSPRA have given her a broad understanding of our members' professional needs and brings the association an extensive network of contacts in the field.

Born and raised in California and Arizona, Karen's passion for horses and all things Western (including the "dry heat" of the desert) is well-known to her friends. You can take the girl out of the West, but once a cowgirl, always a cowgirl!
