Internal Communication Increasingly Important

According to a recent PR Week article, corporate communicators are ramping up internal communication in response to current economic environment. Mark Hass, CEO of MS&L, says that unlike a crisis that impacts an individual company with a specific issue, this is more of a "global malaise" that requires a different approach.

In response, companies are increasing direct communication to employees, with face-to-face, small group communications that address issues and promote feedback taking precedence over intranet or print communications.

School officials already affected by tightening state and local budgets are struggling with this same uncertain economy, which makes internal communications and the role of the school PR professional more important than ever.
