Presentation Skills: A Tune-up for Educators
($195.00)

The ability to deliver an effective presentation is an essential skill. Professionals who can present well at school board, faculty and other meetings, and in training sessions – to large groups and small – are more likely to achieve their communications objectives. They will also have lots of job security. Unfortunately, some professionals continue to use the comfortable, but outdated and self-defeating communication patterns they were taught, or observed and adopted early on in their careers.

This half-day workshop, designed for education leaders and teachers alike, examines new ideas about: presenting; getting and keeping audience attention; handling tough questions; and the appropriate use of PowerPoint. This workshop draws upon learning theory and research about how humans process and retain information delivered through the spoken word, and you will learn the visual and vocal communication skills needed to present effectively. This workshop delivers valuable professional development for those starting out in their careers as well as for experienced presenters who want a candid assessment of their platform skills. To sign up, either visit the pre-sem registration page or download the super early bird registration form and send it by mail or fax.

Dealing with an Angry Public: New Approaches to a Changing Problem
($195.00)

Public anger about school issues is more common, more newsworthy and more damaging than it used to be. It is also more preventable and more manageable. In recent years, much has been learned about what causes public anger, and what works and what doesn’t work when dealing with an angry public.

This half-day workshop offers practical guidance for reducing anger when dealing with parents or others who have concerns or complaints about school issues. Through taped simulations, you will learn how to deal effectively with people who are upset, angry, aggressive or verbally abusive in a hands-on, interactive session. To sign up, either visit the pre-sem registration page or download the super early bird registration form and send it by mail or fax.
